Outsourcing is rarely about the size of the business. It is about where the owner's time is best spent, and how much risk sits in records that are behind.
Questions worth asking
- How many hours a month go into records and payroll?
- Would those hours be more valuable spent on clients or sales?
- Could you produce an accurate financial position this week if asked?
- Is one person the only one who understands your records?
A practical middle ground
Some businesses outsource only the parts that are most time-consuming or most sensitive — payroll, reconciliations, month-end reporting — and keep simple invoicing in-house. That is a perfectly reasonable place to start.
